Jade, 21 years old from the UK, courageously discusses her personal experience with BDD in this short video.
Jade not only discusses the unhappiness and distress she experienced about perceived “defects” with her facial features and facial symmetry, she also discusses the insidious impact of BDD on her life: Jade pushed her friends away, and was terrified about going outside, worrying that people would stare at her, and believing others would see her as “disgusting”.
The video shows Jade taking a stand against her BDD and promoting awareness about this condition, while at the same time doing a big exposure exercise, by standing in the middle of her hometown without makeup.
“It does get better,” says Jade. “I’m happier now than I ever have been.”
