Pre-Cosmetic Surgery / Procedure Assessment

BDD Clinic Director Dr Ryan Kaplan is regarded as a leader in the evolving field of psychological assessment for cosmetic surgery and other procedures. With the Medical Board of Australia's revised guidelines for cosmetic procedures as of July 2023 requiring all cosmetic procedure patients to be screened for psychological risk factors (especially BDD), the Sydney Body Dysmorphic Disorder and Body Image Clinic is available to work independently with plastic and cosmetic surgeons and other cosmetic practitioners to ensure that obligations under these new guidelines are met.

We are happy to accept referrals for pre-cosmetic procedure psychological assessment.

We also offer training and consultation services to cosmetic practitioners to help you ensure your practice is compliant and that you have the necessary processes and screening measures to meet your professional and ethical obligations and to operate in the best interests of patients.
